GURGAON: Jag Ram, 89, an Indian National Army (INA) veteran, who once was a guard of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in Rangoon, is now busy fighting a different battle. He is forced to literally fight with his tenants to collect their monthly rents from them. The veteran has to argue with tenants, mostly shopowners, at the end of every month. He went to the city administration's Republic Day function where he was offered a shawl, like other freedom fighters. "I spoke to some officials about my injured leg and the problem I am facing due to bad tenants," said Ram while sweeping the floor outside the house. "Every year we add something new to the museum on the occasion of Netaji Jayanti, but unfortunately, this year there is no such programme. We had thought about setting up a gallery dedicated to the spiritual life of Netaji, but the project has not been completed due to delay in construction work," said J P Das, the curator of Netaji museum. The All Assam Prize Money Half Marathon will be held on January 22. The marathon will start at Machkhowa in Guwahati to Fatasil Ambari. The marathon will be flagged off by athelete Zarine Barua. Sports organizer Pulin Das will also take part in the marathon. The winner will walk away with Rs 10,000. The second prize carries Rs 7,000 cash while the third prize carries Rs 5,000.

Gomoh   is a   census town   in   Dhanbad district   in the   Indian   state   of   Jharkhand . It is a major railway junction (renamed Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Junction Gomoh on 23 January 2009) situated on the   Grand Chord   Line under Dhanbad division of the East Central Railway. Gomoh is the meeting point for trains coming from Howrah (Eastern Railway), Ranchi/Bokaro (South Eastern Railway) and Puri (South Eastern Railway). Gomoh is a place of historical importance also. On his great escape, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose caught Howrah -Kalka Mail (then known as 63UP Howrah-Peshawar Express) on 18 January 1941. In October 1943 Bose established the Provisional Government of Azad Hind (Free India). The provisional government immediately declared war on the United States and Britain , and in January it located its capital in Japanese-occupied Yangon ( Rangoon ), Burma . Meanwhile, Bose worked diligently to promote harmony between Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs within his army and continued his radio broadcasts to India . n early 1944 Bose induced the Japanese to invade India . Japanese and INA forces entered India in March, advancing to the outskirts of Imphal in the northeast. There, they besieged the British garrison until the beginning of the monsoon rains in June. The rainy season prevented further attack and gave the British time to reinforce their positions, and the British were able to turn back the invading army. In May 1945 the INA surrendered in Yangon .
