Soviet Unions Recognition of the Azad Hind Government

Soviet Unions Recognition of the Azad Hind Government By: Dr.Dipak Basu Apr-15-2009 Author's Home Page Views expressed here are author"s own and not of this website. Full disclaimer is at the bottom. (The author is a Professor in International Economics in Nagasaki University, Japan) For the people brainwashed by false propaganda, it is difficult to recognize the truth. That is particularly true about the Indian population fed with gigantic propaganda unleashed by the Government of India and the historians attached to the government since 1947 against the memory of both Subhas Chandra Bose and his Free India Government in exile. Although it is a fact that along with Germany, Italy, Japan, the Soviet Union also has recognized the Free India Government established in 1943 in Singapore, Indian population at large still cannot believe it. Part of the explanation is due to the propaganda of the Indian historians that Subhas Bose was an associate of the Fascists and N

Netaji's Birhday - an article where Ex-INA soldiers recollect

Forgotten heroes of India's 1st army By: Nilanjana Sengupta Date: 2010-08-14 From Singapore, 3 Indians who were in Netaji's INA, our first National Army, talk about glory and subsequent neglect from a "corrupt, truncated" motherland In a small Udipi restaurant on Singapore's Serangoon Road, a group of octogenarians greet each other with "Jai Hind". They remember phone numbers with difficulty, but lucidly recall their INA days. Each of them carries copies of a certain certificate with pride. It is the only, slim testimonial to prove that they belonged to the first real national army of their homeland, about 3,000 km away. (From left) Girish Kothari, Kishore Bhattacharya and Bala A Chandran in Singapore Bala A Chandran, Girish Kothari and Kishore Bhattacharya were once members of the Indian National Army (INA), a band of revolutionary fighters that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose created in 1943 from among Indian immigrants in Singapore and othe

Remembering freedom fighter Dr Laxmi Sehgal's Life on India's 65th independence day

Political lineage of Subhas Chandra Bose turned out to be a burden for INA veterans n his assessment of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Ram Manohar Lohia describes Bose as the embodiment of the Haldighati spirit. Drawing an analogy with Rana Pratap's refusal to accept defeat to the Mughal army, Lohia says Bose accepted neither defeat nor the withdrawal of lassitude. The Haldighati spirit does not believe the world will end with the current generation. It believes that the ultimate source of strength and goodness lies in the power of the will. But, Lohia writes, how clean, knowing , unselfish and undefeated is this spirit? This description also fits the action-packed life of Bose's close associate in the Indian National Army (INA), Captain Lakshmi Sahgal , who passed away at the age of 97 in Kanpur recently. Even her last act - to donate her eyes to a needy person and her body to medical students - reflected a radical edge undiminished by age. But how appreciative was

Dr Laxmi Sehgal - Commander of INA Fauj - Jhasi regiment passes away at 97

Dr Laxmi Sehgal - Commander of INA Fauj - Jhasi regiment passes away at 97 today only to make us wonder what the honour and respect the nation's new rulers have had bestowed on her. Her name is now the epitome of medical service.Tlll her last days she was serving and treating her poor patients. The nation could not honour her beyond a Padmabibhusan. The ruling NDA though was supportive of INA movement but Laxmi Sehgal's presidency candidature on behalf of Communist lobby of India did not go well with the NDA who had the maximum votes in their bag and lost it miserably not for her fault but for lack of gratitude of the power loving Indians at the corridors of legislature. “The fight will go on,” said Captain Lakshmi Sahgal one day in 2006, sitting in her crowded Kanpur clinic where, at 92, she still saw patients every morning. She was speaking on camera to Singeli Agnew, a young filmmaker from the Graduate School of Journalism, Berkeley, who was making a documentary on her l

Netaji - Ten Truth seeking Questions to the present dysfunctional Government of India

Netaji on a voyage during WWII The saga of Netaji continues - his biography is read by millions Indian households as a part of children's awakening of patriotism. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose - His Majesty's Opponent- the Indian Freedom Fighter who fought the colonial rules tooth and nail, Gandhiji's Patriot of patriots. Netaji's life's abrupt end shrouded with dubious plane crash and Govt of India's setting up of three Enquiry Commissions still not able to resolve the mystery. Rather, the Truth seekers and researchers on Netaji are increasingly getting a sixth sense feeling that a distinct quarter in the corridor of central power since the Nehru days are desperate to hide certain very serious facts from the people of this country. The feeling and belief that has grown stronger with each passing year since 1945 is that World War Allied forces’ governments and the Government of India( even after change of guards) has continued to act

Subhash Chandra Bose Missing Mystery Takes New Fold

Subhash Chandra Bose Missing Mystery Takes New Fold - By Ananth - Published: 08/11/2011 Although there have been several stories about Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's whereabouts, many publications and articles have announced his demise after all the efforts of tracing him went futile. Numerous commissions and organizations have conducted various investigations to chase the mystery, ironically, the living witness Nizamuddin was never contacted by anyone. The 107-year old Nizamuddin, who asserts to be the driver of Netaji in Azad Hind Fauj (AHF), is presently residing in Islampura, Bilariyaganj that is situated in Azamgarh district. The retired driver mentioned that had spent four years with Bose after joining the AHF in 1942. Nizamuddin is extremely confident that Bose must have not lost his life in the plane crash in 1945. "How can it be possible when I had dropped him by the car on the banks of Sitangpur river near the border of Burma and Thailand about three-fou

Jan 19, 2012, 02.31AM IST   TNN CUTTACK: With only a few days to go, the Netaji museum here is yet to come up with any concrete plan for celebrating the 115th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on January 23 next. "Every year we add something new to the museum on the occasion of Netaji Jayanti, but unfortunately, this year there is no such programme. We had thought about setting up a gallery dedicated to the spiritual life of Netaji, but the project has not been completed due to delay in construction work," said J P Das, the curator of Netaji museum. Similarly, with the model code of conduct for the panchayat poll in force, neither the chief minister nor any other minister will visit the museum on that day. Every year authorities make elaborate plans to celebrate the day at the Netaji museum. The chief minister and other senior political leaders attend the programmes and address public meetings, but this year there would be no such event. It was also
