Although there have been several stories about Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's whereabouts, many publications and articles have announced his demise after all the efforts of tracing him went futile. Numerous commissions and organizations have conducted various investigations to chase the mystery, ironically, the living witness Nizamuddin was never contacted by anyone.

The 107-year old Nizamuddin, who asserts to be the driver of Netaji in Azad Hind Fauj (AHF), is presently residing in Islampura, Bilariyaganj that is situated in Azamgarh district. The retired driver mentioned that had spent four years with Bose after joining the AHF in 1942.

Nizamuddin is extremely confident that Bose must have not lost his life in the plane crash in 1945. "How can it be possible when I had dropped him by the car on the banks of Sitangpur river near the border of Burma and Thailand about three-four months after the incident of plane crash?" he wondered.

He also said that he is not aware of what happened after he dropped Netaji on the riverbank. He said that he persuaded to escort Bose, but he was ordered to return with a commitment of meeting in Independent India.
Nizamuddin recollected his convention with Swami, a close acquaintance of Netaji, over 10 years ago. Swami was in constant touch with Bose. As per the repatriation certificate given in favor of Nizamuddin, Swami (full name SV Swami) was the chairman of the Relief and Repatriation Council, Ex Azad Hind Fauj and Allied Organization, Rangoon.

This was the sole certificate Nizamuddin possesses to prove his connection with AHF. Nizamuddin came back to India with his family and settled at his inherited house in Dhakwa village in the year 1969. Eventually the 107-year old Nizamuddin relocated to Islampura.
